Winter Percussion is an exciting and dynamic competitive activity that blends music, dance, and theatrical performance, often described as a “sport of the arts.”
During the winter season, ensembles compete indoors, showcasing their talents through a combination of musical performance and intricate visual elements.
An indoor percussion ensemble, or indoor drumline, consists of two main sections: the marching percussion (often called the battery) and the front ensemble (or pit), which together form the rhythm section of a marching band or drum corps.
While many indoor percussion groups are affiliated with high schools, numerous independent ensembles also exist, drawing participants from wide-ranging communities and backgrounds. Quarry Corps is made up of students from Rocklin and Whitney High Schools.
